On March 9, Dallas County announced its first Covid-19 case.

Old-timers often said, “God willing,” when they announced plans.

“God willing, I’ll see you Sunday, friend,” or,

” God willing, we’ll pull through all right.”

Words born of uncertain times, their purpose was to add a measure of softness to a statement of intent. Well, that old phrase is tripping off my tongue today.

God willing, someday we’ll look back and say, “I remember when we survived 2020, the year of Covid-19…”
